Three and a half months later.....

And I'm still pregnant!
I know, I am not meant to be a blogger. But I'm going to try again to keep up with this thing.
So here's a quick update. I am officially 4o weeks and 4 days pregnant. Just waiting for baby to arrive. Went to the Dr. last week (at 40 weeks) and I was only 1cm. dilated and still very thick. I was actually what he called "long" (my cervix). So I had a non-stress test done yesterday and everything was fine. I go back in tomorrow to be checked and hopefully for some kind of good news!
I will keep you posted (I won't wait so long this time :)

One more thing

Today is our 2 year wedding anniversary! So maybe we'll have a baby as an anniversary present!

A week of firsts

I will start with the fun stuff first.
Anderson had his first baby shower this past weekend! A few friends from the dental hygiene program put this together, it was a baby shower/class get together. This first part was my shower which turned out really nice. I was a bit nervous at first because I hadn't registered at the time the invites went out since it was back at our graduation in the beginning of May. So I thought he was going to get a bunch of clothes, which is fine (I'm not being greedy), but he has soooo many clothes that I knew they would never all get used. But everybody did such a good job for not going of a registry! He got a lot of necessities like diapers/wipes, dreft, onesies, blankets, pj's, first aid kit, bathtub, bath wash/lotion, socks, toys etc. I was able to just go back and take some of that stuff off our registry. Everything else was great, yummy cake, a really cute diaper cake, and this super cute cradle made out of a whole watermelon with the fruit inside it! After the games, presents and cake we all got into party mode. Sarah lives on the lake and that was where the party was, so we made some drinks (virgin style for me), put on our swimsuits and went out on the pontoon boat. It was a perfect evening for relaxing on the lake and catching up with our classmates who we were so used to seeing EVERYDAY for 2 years straight. Afterwards we had a bonfire and made s'mores! It was a fun day! Thanks Jen, Sarah and Alex!

So fastforward through the weekend and on Tuesday I decided to be one of those first time preggos and we had our first trip to labor and delivery. I had noticed that Anderson wasn't very active for a few days. He was still moving but it wasn't very much. At first I didn't think much of it and finally on Monday his movements were very light. That is unusual for him because they were getting really strong, strong enough to where we could actually see them by just looking at my stomach. So that night I paid really close attention and he hardly moved all evening, and that is when is is most active. So the next morning I ate breakfast and did the same thing because morning is his active time too. Well there was like one faint movement and by then I was really worried. I called the Dr. and they told me to go to L&D. Off we went. Got hooked up to the fetal monitor, HR was good and a few minutes later he was moving all over! Dr. P was called and he ordered an u/s to have the amniotic fluid checked and that came back normal too! Thank goodness, I knew deep down that he was fine, but I needed that reassurance and I would rather be safe than sorry.

24 Weeks

So I am moving backwards in my pregnancy.....I went to my appoinment last week and they switched my due date to Oct. 9th. I knew all along that I was right when I had figured it to be that date. But nooo, even after it showed that date on my ultrasound they said they would keep it Sept. 28th. I was fine with that and was getting used to the idea of being 2 weeks farther than I thought. Then when I actually saw Dr. Pastoriza last week, he told me they were going to switch it. I almost wanted to cry because that meant I had to backup 2 whole weeks! But oh well, everything else went really well and I guess the date doesn't matter, he will come when he's ready :)

If anybody is still interested...

I know I am not the best blogger, but if anybody is still around reading then here is a little update on the pregnancy.
I am just over 23 weeks now! When I went in for my ultrasound they were showing that my due date was Oct. 9th which is what I had figured the whole time. When I told my Dr. this, she still wanted to keep what they had in their records, which was Sept. 28th. So I am officially due Sept. 28th! I am over half way done. They also confirmed that we were having a boy (which we pretty much knew)! We were pretty much set on our boy name before we had the confirmation and it will more than likely be Anderson. Still not sure of the middle name though. Andrew keeps saying Anderson Vaughn. At first I didn't like it, but it's starting to stick. I have been feeling a lot of movement, which is sooo amazing, I love it! Other than that, there is not much more to update!

almost 15 weeks

So this Friday I will be 15 weeks. It's crazy how time flies! I have been feeling pretty good lately. No more feeling crappy! I seemed to have gotten my energy back and the only two things that are still lingering are headaches and this nasty metallic taste in my throat. Very annoying!

I FINALLY was able to get an ultrasound from Nicole's mom (thank you Laura!) at 12 weeks. Everything looked good and it was obviously to early to see the sex :(

This past week I went to Florida with some girlfriends and the friend we stayed with was able to give me another ultrasound (thanks Megan!) AND we may know the sex already! She actually did the u/s vaginally because she said with me being early still, that she would have a better chance seeing because I guess they are a little more clear when done that way. So anyway we finally got a nice little shot of our little peanuts parts and it is pretty darn obvious that our little babe is a BOY! She was pretty confident in telling me that it's probably for certain. If you could see the pic then I think you would probably agree that it's a boy. I googled u/s pics of boys and girls and they said that a girl would look like a "hamburger with the bun" (3 white lines) and a boy looks like a "turtle". This picture definitely looks like a "turtle". I know they say that it's easy to confuse boys and girls when it's still early but I was confident enough to buy a few boy things already :) They are returnable though, just in case!

So there you have it, we "may" be having a boy. I go in on May 13th for official u/s with the Dr. and hopefully we'll have some confirmation. But for now I have been having fun stocking up on boy things. Andrew has already told me I need to slow down! It's just too fun though :)

A little update...

So I went to the Dr. last Thursday (I know, a little late updating here) and we got to hear the heartbeat! It was very exciting, well actually at first she couldn't find it so I was actually getting a little nervous. But she finally found it and it was about 175-180. Pretty fast heartbeat, maybe we're having a girl!? Don't they say if it's fast it's a girl?
I have actually been feeling really sick these last couple of days. I had to call my Dr. because it was so bad. I was so weak I could barely move or sit up to eat. She thought that maybe I had a stomach virus or was having a reaction to the antibiotic I was taking for a slight UTI. She just told me to eat bland foods and yogurt and that it should go away. I feel pretty good right now so let's hope it has passed. I have my national board exam on Tuesday and I really need to focus on some studying time these next couple of days.
Well I need to attempt to straighten up around here before I get hit with another bout of nausea.

Big news in the Cook household....

We're having a baby!

We've actually known for about a month now but wanted to wait until we were further along to share the news. We told our families this weekend so now the news is out!

I had my first appointment a few weeks ago and all they did was a bunch of paperwork and bloodwork. I go back next Thursday for an exam. I did my due date calculations and am getting that I am currently 8 wks. with a due date of Oct. 9th. When I went to the Dr. they did their calculations with their little wheel, and are saying I am 10 wks. and due Sept. 28th. I think my caculations are more accurate because when I did it online I was able to adjust my cycle length because it's not average. The wheel they use at the doctors is for an average cycle. When I was telling her this she said she will have a better idea when I come back for my exam. So we'll see.

Are they able to tell about how far along you are by a regular exam and no ultrasound?

Oh my....

I am such a bad blogger!

Well can I start off by saying that I am terribly sad that this summer is about over?! I know it's not "officialy" over, but in my mind it is. I start school again this Tuesday. I'm a little nervous and excited at the same time. Nervous, because my first day back is my day in clinic, so I will be seeing patients first thing. Excited, because that means I am getting closer to graduating! My summer has gone by way too fast. It probably didn't help that I was in school for half of it and making up some work time the second half. Andrew and I were able to go on an amazing vacation though. We went to San Diego for 2 weeks at the beginning of August. It was my first visit to California and it was a blast! It has always been on my top vacations that I would love to take list. I will post some pictures later. Right now I am off to watch my hubby play some poker! I hope you all have a great Labor Day!

I took a hint from a fellow blogger

I was reading Carries blog and she totally called me out on not blogging, so here I am again. It's been so long I had to enter my password twice before I got it right!
Nothing new is going on in my life at the moment. I am taking classes right now and the summer semester ends in 3 weeks and 2 days! I have had the count down going since it started 5 weeks ago! It's been a long and tiring semester. Just really long days and a lot of homework and studying. But like I said, it's almost over and I will finally have some freedom for a bit. Woohoo! Maybe then I can take a few lessons from Nicole about how to change things up a bit on here. The first thing to go is that awful banner picture of my husband and I! Actuallly I might explore around this page and see what I can do, so if it ends up looking messed up or something, you'll know why.

I know, it's been forever...

I know it's been forever since my last post, but I've been a little busy lately and there has been not much to post about.
I was on my spring break a week after my Chicago trip and I ended up going to Myrtle Beach with my sister, my 2 nephews and my cousin. It was pretty nice to get away for a week and soak up some sunshine! I don't know if I can say it was relaxing since I was up around 7 a.m. when my 1 and 4 yr. old nephew were up! But it was worth it and we had a blast!
My semester is coming to an end in a week and a half, so it has been crunch time for me, finishing up assignments and studying for finals. I will have about a week off and then it's time for summer school, yippee!

I'm here!

Sorry it has taken me so long to do my first post, I'm already a bad blogger and haven't even started yet! I should probably back up and explain how I got here first. It all started this past weekend on the RWMBW trip to Chicago. I was invited to go along on this trip that was for bloggers to meet up and hang out. I wasn't a blogger, but knew most of the people, so Nicole invited me along since there was extra space anyway. While I was sleeping one night, Nicole and everybody else involved, decided I needed a blog, so she created one for me! So, thank you Nicole for the nice blog! I can't take credit for any of it. Heck, I don't even know how to post pictures on here.
So back to my Chicago weekend. I had a great time hanging out with all the girls, and I especially enjoyed meeting Kasey and Kim for the first time. You guys are awesome and so much fun to hang out with! I wish everybody lived close so we could all hang out more often.
Like I said before, I don't even know how to post pictures yet, so stay tuned for more stuff. I'm going to have to get a lesson from Nicole first!
Thanks everyone for all the welcoming comments!
